The Golf Birdies Launch event
Our launch event at Hillsborough Golf Club was a great day! We met in the Clubhouse then headed out onto the range. It was great to see people turn up with a mix of ability, experience and all ages. We were lucky to also receive some coaching from one of the PGA assistants.
The prize for most improved went to little Ada, aged 5 and the prize for the longest shot went to George! Congratulations to both!

Bondhay 9 Hole Academy Course
In May, we headed to Bondhay’s 9 Hole Academy Course, a par 3 course perfect for beginners. We started the day meeting in the clubhouse for a hot drink and breakfast sandwich. We then spent some time on the driving range, practicing shots and gathering information about how far we can hit different clubs, ready to use on the course. Giovanna took us through some key bits of ettiquette and a few rules to get us going! We all had fun playing the course and making new friends. Sharon and Kay celebrated their first pars!

9 Hole Course at Woolley Park
July 2025
In July, we traveled to Woolley Park in Wakefield, to play the 9 hole par 3 course. It was so lovely to have some new members join us, of all different abilities and see how encouraging and supportive everyone was towards each other. One thing that people love about the game of golf is the competitive side. So at this event we brought in a little 50 shot challenge - whoever gets the furthest round the 9 holes with their 50 shots, wins. Josie took the win, getting round all 9 holes and in less than 50! We finished off the day with some drinks and food sat in the sun outside the clubhouse. This was a great way for us to spend more time getting to know each other!
The Summer Social
To wrap up the summer we held our Summer Social at Hillsborough Golf Club and again we welcomed lots of new members. Some playing out on a golf course for the first time! It’s normal to feel nervous as a beginner golfer but, as always, the Golf Birdies were so supportive and encouraging. Pat, one of Hillsborough’s experienced lady members, joined us and she was great at building the members’ confidence and answering questions about different rules on the course. We played a 9 hole Mixed Foursomes, where you are in a team of 2 and take alternate shots. Two new members, Jo and Jo, took the win with the lowest score over the 9 holes! Everyone had a great day and lots of laughs were had. We finished off the day taking in the lovely views from Hillsborough’s Clubhouse, socialising with a couple of drinks!
